Carnival Planning Guide (Hamilton Area)
Planning a carnival day for a school, church, community group, or corporate event in the Hamilton area? This is the working guide — game mix, midway layout, prize and ticket strategy, and staffing.
Recommended game mix
- Classic midway (6–8 stations) — Ring Toss, Balloon Pop, Hit the Bucket, Duck Hunt, Can Smash, Ring-a-Bottle.
- Skill stations (2–3) — Basketball Shootout, Football Toss, Axe Throw Challenge.
- Lawn games (2–3) — Giant Jenga, Cornhole, Giant Connect Four for downtime play.
- Inflatables (1–2) — bounce house or slide to anchor the kid zone.
Midway layout
Set stations along a curved walking path. Each station gets a 6ft table plus 2 chairs for the volunteer, with the game equipment in front. Space stations 6–8 ft apart so lines don't overlap.
Put the ticket booth at the entrance, high-energy inflatables at the far end (they draw crowds through the midway), and food/drink tables off to one side.
Tickets, prizes, and staffing
- Tickets: 5 for $5, 25 for $20. Wristbands ($10–$15) for unlimited inflatables.
- Prizes: small prize for playing, bigger prize for winning. Budget $1–$2 per player.
- Volunteers: 1 per station, 2 at the ticket booth, 1 floater. Two 2-hour shifts is easier than one 4-hour shift.
