Backyard Party Planning Guide (Hamilton Area)
Planning a backyard party in Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Binbrook, Grimsby, or Burlington? This is the practical planner — party ideas by occasion, what to rent, and how to size everything to your yard.
Backyard party ideas by occasion
Family reunions
Plan for a sit-down lunch and afternoon games. 6ft banquet tables, folding chairs, and a party game bundle (Cornhole + Giant Jenga + Giant Connect Four) keep grandparents and grandkids happy in the same yard.
Canada Day parties
Long weekend in July — book 3+ weeks ahead. Add cocktail high-tops for a stand-and-mingle BBQ, party games for the yard, and a bounce house if there are kids on the guest list.
Halloween parties
Cool-weather backyard events do well with a covered patio drink station (6ft table + cocktail table covers) and a couple of low-key carnival games (Ring Toss, Duck Hunt) themed to the season.
Easter gatherings
Sit-down Easter lunch: 60" round tables and padded folding chairs for the adults, plus a small kids' craft table and a bounce house if the weather cooperates.
Baby showers & gender reveals
Cocktail high-tops with covers in your theme colour, 60" round tables for seated guests, and one party game (Giant Jenga or Giant Connect Four) as a backyard activity. A throne chair makes a great photo moment for the guest of honour.
Sizing your yard
A sit-down party of 40 guests needs about 400–500 sq ft of usable lawn or patio. A stand-and-mingle party of the same size needs about 250–320 sq ft. As a rule of thumb that's roughly 10–12 sq ft per seated guest and 6–8 sq ft per standing guest. Add another 100–200 sq ft for a food/drink station and any party games. Bounce houses need a level 13 ft × 13 ft minimum footprint (more for combo units).
For guest-count charts by table type, see our How Many Chairs and Tables Do I Need guide.

Delivery access checklist
Do a quick walk-through before you book. We move chairs, tables and game equipment from the driveway to your drop-off point with a hand truck.
- Gate width — 36 inches (3 ft) is the minimum for most equipment.
- Steps, ramps or tight corners — flag these when you request a quote.
- Firm ground — soaked lawns make heavy items hard to roll.
- Overhead clearance — no low branches or wires over an inflatable footprint.
- Power — a standard outlet within 75 ft of the inflatable.
Delivery is our base service: we drop off during your window and come back to pick up. Setup and teardown of chairs, tables and games are optional paid add-ons. Inflatables are always set up and taken down by our team for safety.
